Teethcutter, the 2024 album from Tulsa Volume Kings, Dust Lord, is a nasty fusion of sludge, crust, stoner, and doom, laden with harmonies. Endeavoring to raise the bar for underground heavy bands, Spike Shavor, founding member of grindcore legends Catheter, birthed Dust Lord in the mountains of Colorado Springs, sworn to make the loudest and heaviest music possible. After releasing 2020’s full-length, Machine Cult, and 2021’s split with Bog Wizard, entitled Four Tales Of The Strange, Spike relocated to Tulsa, OK and assembled the current lineup with Brad Hallacy of Grass Giant on bass and Connor Bradley on drums.
Dust Lord are back with a face ripping, precision assault, utilizing a full palate of sounds for a perfect blend of aural destruction. You can feel the visceral volume through the thunder of Hallacy’s bass bombs, Bradley’s tub thumps, and Shavor’s razor guitar riffs and vocal shred. The authenticity in their delivery is palpable.
