Muse celebrate the twentieth anniversary of \u2018Origin Of Symmetry\u2019 by releasing \u2018Origin Of Symmetry: XX Anniversary RemiXX\u2019 on Warner Records. As the album\u2019s anniversary approached, Muse asked the Grammy-winning producer Rich Costey, who has produced or mixed material on almost every subsequent record, to revisit the original recordings. Whereas most remix albums aim to radically rework the material, or to switch to an entirely different genre, the band and Costey wanted to provide a renewed clarity with a more open, dynamic and less crushed sound. This highlights parts and ideas previously buried or muted on the original mixes, like a harpsichord on \u2018Micro Cuts\u2019 and Abbey Road recorded strings on \u2018Citizen Erased\u2019, \u2018Megalomania\u2019 and \u2019Space Dementia\u2019. And that\u2019s precisely what has been achieved. From the visceral opening riff of \u2018New Born\u2019 to the cinematic melancholy of the closing \u2018Megalomania\u2019 via the staggering scope of fan favourite \u2018Citizen Erased\u2019, the remix unveils every facet of the album\u2019s intricate production alongside a new-found warmth. It further benefits from mastering courtesy of Alex Wharton at Abbey Road Studios.<\/p>\n
The \u2018XX Anniversary RemiXX\u2019 also adds \u2018Futurism\u2019 to the tracklist. Originally a bonus track on the album\u2019s Japanese edition and subsequently tagged to the end of the album on streaming services, \u2018Futurism\u2019 now adds a burst of energy to bridge the gap between \u2018Feeling Good\u2019 and \u2018Megalomania\u2019. This reflects its placing on the 2019 box set \u2018Origin of Muse\u2019. \u2018Origin of Symmetry: XX Anniversary RemiXX\u2019 is completed with a modernised reimagination of the album\u2019s cover art courtesy of Sujin Kim.
