It was during a family lunch at Gasterie de Bokkeryer in Sweikhuizen that Pablo van de Poel (DEWOLFF) and his 10-year-younger brother Vince wondered aloud\u2026 why isn\u2019t there a Limburgish metal band called \u201cDe Bokkeryers\u201d? What is more metal than a bunch of low-class bandits flying on goats through the 18th-century South Limburg night? The swearing-in ceremony, where someone clad in a red robe and barking like a dog crawls backward through the chapel towards the altar, where a chalice full of blood stands ready to be ritually drunk? How all these figures, from tanner Mathias Ponts to Surgeon Kirchhoffs, met their gruesome end; on the gallows, broken on the wheel, or quartered? What is more metal than that? The Van De Poel brothers and their stubborn friend Jordan Faber saw it as their Limburgian duty of honor to provide these stories full of darkness and ruthlessness with the scorching riffs, thundering rhythms, and lyrical extravagance they deserve. The result is an album that sounds like a nightmare in which the deformed devil’s child of Ozzy Osbourne and Andr\u00e9 Rieu is drowned in a churning cesspool by the singer of Carnaval Corpse. It comes out on September 10th, and in honor of this, the Bokkeryers will play a few live shows, reinforced by Gerben Bieldermann (Iron Djinn \/ PAUW) on bass and Dani\u00ebl Michels (Seeds of Despair) on second guitar. Please note! Musically, this has little to do with DeWolff: this is a combination of hard-hitting doom, sludge, and thrash metal, featuring Limburgish lyrics with a punk attitude and a healthy dose of humor, fake blood, and self-mockery. And a collaboration with Limburg Carnival Queen Beppie Kraft. No joke.<\/p>\n
